I've been a bit quiet of late. This would be mainly due to that enormous timesink known as the Thesis. Actually, to some extent that's incorrect. It does take a significant proportion of my time, but not enough to account for the amount of time I'm losing. It's more a matter of it taking up a lot of space in my head, so to speak, rather than it taking up a lot of actual numerical time in my life. Ok, I'm basically ignoring it at the weekends, but it's still there, still wandering around in the back of my head, and it's not going away for at least a few months.
Things done for it this week: compiled the "final" version of the basic description of the whole structure, with info on how this goes down to the individual chapters, in time for the big meeting with both my supervisors early next week re: where we go from here. I'll probably be eating these words in a few weeks, but this part looks like to be one of the hardest bits to do, because you need to spend lots of time on getting it right, and this whole meta-linguistics stuff isn't quite my field. Technically, this is only a 5-and-a-bit pages document, but it's the distilling of the survivors of all of the ideas that have survived over the past months of mental gladatorial combat (you try working with linguistics to the point at which you can describe *everything* in the terms (I thought through the process of thinking about rain last week) you've defined, and let's see where your words end up). I'm still not totally happy, but I'm still pretty proud of the little bastard. Immediate supervisor went through it on Wednesday, and it only came back with some minimal grammar/word usage stuff, so I'm pretty hopeful for it's chances.
Still need a bloody title.... "Challenging Wireless Sensor Network Thinking" has been marked as a 'working title', but I want something better. Also need to rename the localisation stuff. Existing title is "Refined Statisics-based Localisation". Thinking about dance-related titles after the use of 'Foxtrot', but haven't got very far. Suggestions anyone?
