Satan decides to go skating to work. For those of you not in on the joke, Debian is my Linux distribution of choice. They're somewhat fanatical about quality control (and manic legal debates), so much so that they hadn't had a proper release since July 2002. Everyone's been running off of their "testing" and "unstable" sections for new software (what Debian calls "unstable", most software companies would call extensively tested) for most of that time.... which makes the 3.1 release a good thing. And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Somehow I ended up finding out about and joining a mailing list for Involuntary Celibates (a.k.a. incels). They're a bit on the whiny side, and some of them don't appear to have got the idea that Big Pink Text is a LARTable offense, but I'm sticking around, if only because I'm in the same boat currently.

Random things:
As I posted on [livejournal.com profile] cyberpunk and [livejournal.com profile] singularity_now, New Scientist has an article up on the Mission to build a simulated brain (they're getting a bit Slashdotted right now)
The Origami Underground - to quote from their site "it is the place to find erotic origami on the web". Ahem.
BOFH comes up with the best titles again with "blocking the chutney ferret". Had to look that one up.
