Boredly browsing through OKCupid, I see someone's put up an event notice about Abunai!, an "anime, manga and japanese culture convention". This is starting to look pretty tempting. It's over a Fri-Sun period, and about 1h45 away from me here, so I *could* get down there after work on Friday. I'm tempted as hell. I'm sure everyone's heard me bitching and whining about the lack of student societies around here, and ergo the lack of groups of fannish people, and so something like this looks like fun. Accomodation might be a bit tricky (I've got to it late, so official hotels are out of space), and I think the cost of that is the most major thing holding me back here. Hell, it's nowhere near excessive for this sort of thing, but costs will be high enough to make me at least be damn sure before I do this.
Thoughts anyone?
(I have at least managed to find out from this that there's another (bigger) Anime festival in the Netherlands, but the next one of those isn't until May-ish next year. However, I do at least have a gallery of Dutch cosplayers, and for some reason the cultural conflict between typical Dutch facial features and the styles of Anime costumes is somewhat amusing, at least to me...)
