I'm going back to England from 23/12 to 9/1. Firstly I'm going to the parentals, and do the whole family thing. See the brother for the first time in about 8 months, see the mad grandparent, etc. Part of me thinks that I'm doing all of that mostly because it's easier than attempting to do anything else, and the other half just wants to see the darn cats again (esp. after
cabellicious' recent post). Meh, I'm a cat person. C'est la vie...
After I survive that madhouse, I'm planning on heading onwards to Bristol. Looks like it may be a case of "pass the Tom" with floor space, so if anyone does have space even for a couple of days, I'm interested. Certainly plan on being around until the 3rd for
omylouse's bday, and given that when I go back to the parents is unplanned, I wouldn't be entirely adverse to actually getting to celebrate my bday (8th *hint*) with some of you lot. Will have to book coaches for all of this sooner or later, but that's likely to be shortly after Xmas, in order to give everyone enough time to actually know what the heck they're doing before I have another go at querying floor space.
It'll be good to see the motherland again. I do plan on coming back permenantly at some point (barring a really good opportunity in another english-speaking country - the Netherlands would drive me nuts if I spent more than 4 years here).

*sigh* Life was so much simpler when I was a lazy student with an out-of-work girlfriend; now I'm a businessman with a headache :-/
I'll let you know as soon as I know what I'm doing, and I'll keep an eye out for updates on your plans :)

Just out curiosity, does your home area have any local Robin Hood stories? I'm reading this book that claims they're all over the map, not that I know a lot about British geography anyway, but I like Robin Hood. :p

Not that I know of. Home is Ealing in West London - claim to fame is the Ealing Studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ealing_Studios) (of early film comedies fame). Bristol (the place I would be living if I was back in England) also doesn't AFAIK have anything. Glance at the Wikipedia entry seems to indicate that most of the candidates are further north, and I'm a southener, so not much knowledge there.
Whee, evolving plans!
