For the most part, I am a very sedate shopper. I don't really buy a lot of stuff, I tend to often be a bit of a cheap bastard at other times (I blame my Yorkshiremen/Lancastrian heritage). Then, there are other days, like today, when I go completely psychotic and buy *lots* of things all in one go. Most of the blame for this is that there was a whole load of things I needed/wanted to get, but the only time I can really get them is on Saturdays before 5pm. As the chances of me being awake enough to do anything before midday on a Saturday are low (recovering from a week of not enough sleep and too much caffeine), then I tend to vegetate for about 4 hours and eventually dash to the shops about 4:15pm. Net result of that is that I don't get a lot done. Today was different.

Things bought today:
  • New processor/motherboard/ram for computer (ok, I ordered this last weekend, but it only came in midweek)

  • Winter duvet (dual thing that does summer as well actually), decent pillow and covers for them. This means I now have a duvet the same size as my bed, which is a good thing.

  • New bike - old one got another frelling rear puncture, and this is after I got the whole darn back tyre replaced. And given the piece of shit it was generally, I decided to replace it with something less shit. The concept of a bike that doesn't sound like a large clanking train engine is a new concept. It feels really great to have transport again after ~1.5 weeks of walking everywhere.

  • 5 assorted music CDs - ok, one of these was the new R.E.M. (which I'd said already I'd buy ASAP), and another 2 was a cheap compilation CD set. And the others were not that expensive. At 11.75 euros (~£8.24) I will buy many things, especially when it's a 32 track Guided By Voices compilation.

That I got paid this week helps as well. I seem to remember someone posting about maturity. I appear to have reached one stage of that, in that I've had an Athlon 64 in my room for a good 5 hours now, and it hasn't been installed yet. Normally I would have new computer stuff installed almost immediately, but I had other things to do, and this will take a while. That's what I'm doing with my Sunday.
