Palfrey's life

It's been a difficult day, but a worthwhile one. One of those days where there's been a whole bunch of hardships, but in the end you worked heavily and it's been worth it. Most of this has been 12 hours doing the group project. My two fellow subgroup members are somewhat on the very-slow-to-understand anything side, and requiring much bludgeoning to get them to actually understand anything, but the rest of the group is good, so it's coming together. There's a working GUI for the end-users (after I had to recode the wxWidgets app from Python -> C - much hellish), and the microprocessor side of the system bits does all the serial output ok. Sensors subgroup has working code (with some inaccuracies, but they're working on it), and we're gonna integrate that tommorrow morn. Motors subgroup has two sub-subgroups - hardware and software. Hardware is working their arses off, but they're still looking at problems getting things done in time. Software has written *some* docs, but no code, so they're gonna need a bit of kicking as that's gonna slow down everything else. Hells, the degree to which I am management right now is horrific.

Down sides of today: Koen told me I'm not on the current Sensys list of "papers we're still looking at". Admittedly, they're probably still waiting on a few reviews, and that might be why, he's not sure. This may well however mean that I'm not going to Sensys, and so this means time to find a new conference... oh well. Would have been nice to get my first paper into the first conference I submitted to, but if not, there's always others.

Watched some Smallville yesterday: Whitney is a shit. If it wasn't for the whole Lana thing, and the plotline possibilites in keeping Clark strung along, he would be dead. Admittedly he's starting to be less of a shit, but given I think that sport scholarships are a really stupid idea, he deserves to stay in Smallville his whole life if that was his only way out. Damnit Clark, just go out with Chloe. She's a hell of a lot better choice than Lana.
