palfrey at 05:04pm on 22/02/2003Blogging is one of those things I'm still getting used to. I seem to do a whole bunch in bursts, and then i stop again for a few days (barring drunken things like my last post).
Life updates: Saw daredevil on thurs. It's not bad, but not wonderful. Story is a bit lacking at points - it's trying to be a Big Moral Exploration (tm, pat. pend.) as well as being a action film, and it kinda fails at both. It's got a solid beginning, but then they kill off the female lead way too fast IMNSHO. This ain't just to do with her being nice on the eyes. She basically has very little impact on the story, she's basically there to illustrate the shittyness of his life (ref: the vast collection of scars on his back, and the bath/casket he uses to shut out the world for a while). There's a cool soundtrack (will buy when it gets to the ~£10 level, not the £15 of right now), but otherwise it was fairly sucky.
Dan's bday last night. Meal at Bejing Bistro (fairly decent chow mein), drinks in the Magic Box (first time I've been in there since I broke up with Ruth 5 1/2 months ago...bit wrenching, but not that bad really), then onto Jesters for the friday night stuff there. Not bad, but I was feeling fairly knackered by that point and my glasses have been really badly slipping down my nose just recently, which didn't help my mood. Dancing at disco thing in jesters (photos on website soon-ish), come home to find very drunken Sam asking me what the time was. Seems the celebrations for Shaunna's bday (Dan got priority because he asked first) were drunken, but will extract more details from Shaunna when she appears.
Almost went to see Final Destination 2 today, but got up at 3pm, to find Ally telling me Sam H had called, saying "get to cribbs for 3:50", which really isn't doable at that point on public transport.
Pissing around with project, must mail Henk and setup a meeting (as he's been away for last few days, so haven't been able to track him down and throw PhD idea at him yet)
Read The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect (cool singularity-related sci-fi, read it), and the archives of Sexy losers. (This is sick, but made me laugh lots!)
