For those of you confused by my current MSN name - which says "Is niet goud. Veel Nederlands woorden, *een* betenkenis...." (It's not good. Many Dutch words, *one* meaning....), this is because I've spent too much of the last 48 hours absorbing Dutch vocab after having not turned up to either lesson last week - which was a very bad idea, mostly spiralled out of control from my procrastinating after time spent with parentals, and not spending the time I should learning Dutch. Anyways, I'm vaguely caught up, and the Dutch lesson today went reasonably ok, so that's something.

More TNG watching tonight (needed a break after vast chunks of Dutch, but back to the grindstone tommorrow), with 6x8, "A Fistful of Datas". And the very interesting screen capture below which very clearly shows a couple of Surface Mounted IC's (as you'd see in many current electronics) as the gubbins of a PADD, and the "isolinear chip" as a slot thing below that. Yay for "futuristic" props.

And proud of it!

I think the problem is that I've spent too long away from people who I can have the horrifically geeky fanboy discussions with ("No, jeffries tube 29A doesn't go *anywhere* near Main Engineering", etc) and so the random geeky thoughts/nitpicking is going onto LJ. I need my people back...

If you lived anywhere near here I would have to introduce you to my friend [livejournal.com profile] vinceholz. He's my best friend's little brother, and he and I used to geek out on a regular basis. . .then I stopped watching television and well, I kind of lost touch with the trek/B5 geekness. I need to get the DVDs. Alas.

But he still spends hours a day watching cool sci-fi on TV. It's his life even.
