Some (i.e. most) of you may be asking, WTF is an "instemming"? Well, it's a typically Dutch way of finding new housemates... not polder model, but much stranger. It had been described to me as a bit like one of those reality shows where there's a bunch of people on an island competing for some money and getting voted off. Except you're fighting for the one space in a house, and the voting off happens over the space of a couple of hours. I've just been to my first one of these tonight in my ongoing attempt to get the hell out of Roland Holstlaan and into somewhere with a bit more company. It was pretty cool, with about 12-13 ppl (plus the 3 existing housemates), and I survived the culling down to the last 5, but in the end it was a bit too small (I have *way* too much crap), and so I had to tell them to pick someone else. Was a good learning experience, I certainly managed to be a hell of a lot more outgoing than anyone else there (without being too manic) - not by really trying, but just being myself. As I've got 7 months before I *have* to get out of here, I can afford to be a bit relaxed with my house hunting right now.

Oh, in an interesting note on social things recently there's a development on from the problem of always being asked how to fix computer problems at parties/gatherings. Now, I get asked about Linux... *shrug*. Apparently one of these convo's became the inspiration for someone's essay on the economics of the open source model, which got a 10 (highest mark, pretty hard to do) from the lecturer, so it's good. Glad to be spreading a bit of knowledge here and there.
