Just been watching "Lost in Translation". Have actually stopped, because I could do with some sleep, and I'm just gonna post (things I would forget about otherwise) and then go to sleep. It's a good film, the whole stranger-in-a-strange-land appeals to me right now, given as I'm in a country where I my grasp of the language is limited, despite the fact that Dutch culture is slightly less weird to me than Japanese culture would be. Have been eating lots of stroopwafels while watching it - not quite a sugar substrate food, but getting there.

Found out where "Heavens To Murgatroid" (had been rattling around in my head on and off for a while) comes from - it's Snagglepuss. No wonder I hadn't been able to figure it out. On that past history note, downloaded an ep of the new Transformers series "Transformers Energon", just to see what they've done with the series this time. Looks like nothing new, same "bolt more bells/whistles/knobbly bits onto Optimus Prime" deal that's been going on thru the whole later series. Oh well.

Have been exploring the realms of fandom on LJ. There's a few interesting things: people like [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile who appears to have managed to write Vir porn, to communities like [livejournal.com profile] trekjournals (for some reason I listen in on [livejournal.com profile] kathrynjaneway). The variety is interesting.

Also been ranting a bit on [livejournal.com profile] glassesfetish, watching T3, and wondering whether the Skynet scenario isn't *actually* that bad (in the sense that the problem is giving that much to one sentient entity, rather than the fact that the sentient in question is a machine. Wondering about the misconception is that the Skynet scenario is a good argument against AI's, and what can be done to combat this opinion).

All in all it's been a pretty busy weekend, just all online. Will have offline social life back soon, what with the Winston Churchill lecture on Monday, the New in Town meetup on Tuesday and the usual AEGEE stuff on Wednesday.
Mood:: 'tired' tired
