Palfrey's life

I admit it. I'm completely and utterly addicted to various webcomics. In a vast hit to my working this evening, I found a strip called "Piled Higher and Deeper" a.k.a PhD. A strip about graduate students. Which is now going to chew up my life while I plow through 4 years of archives.... with ones like this one, and this is a tempting idea, and this was just amusing. Goodbye thesis ideas, shoot me now. In other news, I wrote a graphical front end to my bookmarks collection on BITS, but because of the weirdness of the connection from my room to BITS (I'm ssh'ing into uni to get to my screen session there before that goes to BITS) I can't use it to add them, so I'm entering the SQL queries manually and it's faster than using the very simple webform...

In work news, I managed to persuade my algorithm not to crash when I run it, by the means of valgrind'ing the fucking simulation environment. With bastard set/longjmp's in there, this is not a simple matter. It still throws up half a metric tonne of potential bugs, but it doesn't crash and I get my data, so I don't care. And I think I'm making progress again, so my stress levels there are going down. Now all I gotta do is finish those slide title concepts before the meeting tommorrow, and do vast amounts of other work that's probably late (don't ask, complicated).

Need food. Stomach is eating itself. Stop putting off the 15 minutes it'll take you to cook like I do every evening. Crap. Talking to/with myself in first *and* second person. At least I haven't progressed to 3rd....
