Nice place, flat, canals, bikes, y'know all the generic stereotypes that you've heard before. So, what happened you ask? Well, I like the place. Delft is small (~96K ppl) and at points "quaint", but I think it's something I could really get used to, somewhere I could get to know fully. Both Bristol and London I've never known fully, just a section I happen to inhabit. Delft is small enough to explore all of it easily. It's a very university town - of those 96K, 15K are students at TU Delft where I'd like to go - which I like, university towns are *fun*.
Interview stuff went quite well, good impressions of myself, the vast blocks of commercial experience are going to help quite a lot (having 18 months of commercial experience at my age, while still going through all the A-levels/uni crap is fairly impressive), plus my experience with embeded systems helps lots. 2 glitches
1) There's someone else applying for this - interview in 2 weeks, so I'll know either way in ~3 (and I've just checked, Poland is a NATO country - you need to be a NATO citizen to apply for this - so the CV I saw on Koen's desk is the other applicant.... looked like a very academic CV, where as mine is generic "one-size-fits-all", so dunno whether that'll work for or against me)
2) I'm doing a UK-style 3 year BSc, and all of TU Delft's degrees are currently 5 years(!) so they've gotta check with assorted c'ttee's that I'm allowed to do a PhD with them at all, as they're not sure if I'm valid or not.... but as Bristol would accept me with just a BSc, they prolly will
So, 3 weeks to wait. Meanwhile, have meeting with Henk on Monday about project, so need to work heavily on that now....
