I'm spamming everyone a bit with the number of updates recently. Guess that confirms that my social life is sucking again.
The Jacoba house parties are one of the mainstays of the Delft student social scene. These aren't quite house parties in the sense that most people would normally think of them (as in parties at someone's house consisting of friends of the housemates), but more like the inhabitants of a house opening up their doors, putting some music and dance lights on, and setting up a pay-with-tokens-that-you-get-at-another-desk bar (also these are more whole floors of a block, rather than an actual house, so better for parties). For the most part it's gonna be friends of the house, but they also put up posters all over the place, and anyone is free to enter. I saw one of these posters this morning, and went along to one of the parties a short time ago. "Revenge of the Hippies" was the theme, and if I'd actually known anyone there (as I was hoping I did), I would have stayed. These things are good for meeting new people, but you (certainly I) need to know someone else there to start with, 'cause otherwise it's a bit boring. If I'd actually thought about this I would have spammed a whole bunch of people earlier and asked "wanna come to this party?". There was another one ("Bite my shiny metal ass") just down the road, but decided I couldn't be bothered scouting through that one as well, and I've just come home.
Once the damn things chill, I'm going to have a drink, breaking my "don't drink alone" guideline for the first time this year. Given that I usually break this about once per year, I'm not doing too bad. Just the one as well, and then back to soft drinks - or more likely to sleep.
