So I've been bouncing around the USA for the last week. Started last Tuesday in San Francisco, with a bit of a wander around the Exploratorium and a pilgrimage to Borderlands Books, followed by 3.5 days of stressful conference (stress mostly being related to the demo/tutorial stuff I did on Saturday, and the last minute presentations for same) in Berkeley. There was an evening of drinking in SF, but most of that bit was early mornings, commuting to Berkeley from the hotel in SF, do conference stuff, and then commute back. Exhausting, but vaguely useful. I also got to hand off the luggage item containing entirely demo equipment to one of my colleagues :-)
On Sunday, I then travelled to Miami to visit Marisa for a few days, and we've so far taken in the local Zoo, a fairly successful trip to the local mall (including locating a new UK->US adaptor to replace the one I accidently left in the equipment luggage) and I've donated a bunch of blood to the local mosquito population.... Oh, and yes it is very hot/humid here (factor 30 + sun hat), and you start to learn to love air conditioning! I'm here until late Thursday, getting back into London ~8am Friday, followed by crashing for a few hours and then a BBQ that evening. Life is busy!
Update: Oh, and seeing all the RMT crap going on, I appear to have chosen the right set of days not to have to use the Tube :-)
