Things not to do when you're travelling from the Netherlands to Germany via train: be on the last direct train. Due to an accident at Rotterdam (which resulted in my taking 40 minutes to end up where I started from again), I was about an hour later in Amersfoort than I wanted to be, and the last (5:41pm) train to Hannover had left... the only alternate routes consisted of a) wait until 7:41am the following morning for the next direct train, or b) take a series of less straightforward trains, spend 4 hours killing time in Bremen (12am-4am) and eventually get to Braunschweig at ~6:30 this morning. Picked option B. Got ~1.5 hours sleep last night lying on a train station set of chairs, but on the plus side I didn't miss any of the conference, and the printers finally stopped being a bunch of incompetent w*nkers.
And tomorrow I get to give a presentation about theoretical crazy stuff. Joy (ok, it's *my* theoretical crazy stuff, so more getting published is nice).
