Spent New Years at Dan/Becky's with along with Ian and
rob_is_raze. Much fun, drinking games, and watching of "War of the Worlds" ensued. Also, what was described to me as a Bailey's Latte (take large quantity of bailey's+lots of ice, and throw into blender), is a damn good drink. This was also an night of a first, as this was the first time I've ever gone nuts (with the help of
rob_is_raze) in an off-license and ended up buying vast quanties of beer. As I'm not in general a beer drinker, this is surprising. However, they did have 12-packs of the Erdinger which I have grown to like.
New Years' day, me/
rob_is_raze manage to catch the tail end of various people having some lunch (House of Anime folk - not all of whom I can remember LJ names for -
rattieally and
chocojon), and then wander along to
rattieally's to play vicious card games involving overly violent stick figures. As you do...
Today, plans were made for me/
samurite going along to
rattieally's Madagascar-athon today, but given as he couldn't be arsed getting out of bed, I head along on my own, and meet up with all the usual suspects (everyone in the last paragraph except
rob_is_raze) and proceed to eat melted chocolate, various fruit chunks (mango + chocolate is good), and watch our way through Madagascar plus all the extras including the penguins doing silly Xmas things. Myself plus the HoA then proceed to get chinese food, and go to their place (which I hadn't seen before). We watched Balderdash and Piffle (OED people are horrendously pedantic), and I'm introduced to the insanity that is Katamari Damacy. I'd seen a lot of screenshots before, but until you actually play the thing you don't quite understand quite how many various drugs the programmers must have been on. We're talking a whole galaxy of crazy shit, with added "that should be engrish, but isn't" text, resulting in a game that has damn good gameplay.
Other things noted: the area around the Montpelier train station in Bristol has the best grafitti I've ever seen. Didn't ever think I'd see grafitti saying "fuck heteronormativity" (I have photos, but no camera cable :-( ). I've also finally gotten around to redesigning my web page. Not much in the way of new content, just a much better new look.
Oh, I may/may not be in Bristol over all of the next few days, basically depending on whether or not I have many things to do. I'm still debating, but whatever happens I will be back on Friday for celebrations of my 25th.
