Figured it was about time to update everyone on my last few days. They've been busy. I've spent a large bunch of time wandering around Central Park, got to meet
makeitchemical,
mylaptopisevil,
lauren_joy,
nref (+ others), see a piece of artwork that I described as "bondage gear for squids", eaten at a trailer park themed restaurant, found a kitschy present for my brother ("Santa Sauce") and this little Shakespeare posable action figure for my dad, been to the top of the Empire State building, seen the locals going nuts for Halloween, etc, etc. Yeah, it's been busy. Oh, and yesterday I got asked for directions twice and I *think* that there was a 10 minute segment in which no-one tried to sell me any tourist crap, so I guess the old "I'm big city folk" body language reflexes are kicking in. Unfortunately the CuddleParty stuff fell through (note to self: not all things can be done at the last minute), but there's still the Halloween parade to see (filled in online form last night to apply to be a volunteer, so I might even get to part of all of this...), and many more caffeinated/engrish products to try before my flight tommorrow.
Also, I got to see Serenity :-) Can understand the various reviews re: Mal being a bit wooden, because it only makes sense having seen the whole of Firefly. Felt like a feature-length episode, but with the humour a little less subtle than usual (ah, Hollywood, we love you). Worth seeing for Firefly fans, otherwise you can probably live without.
There's a metric ass-load of pictures (ok, 98 so far) to get posted, but between BITS being in a bit of a state (PHP, and ergo my gallery, are currently disabled) and that I need to get some photo manipulation software onto this laptop (if only to crop/resize stuff), you won't see any for a while.14 of those are of pigeons (attempting to re-enact their earlier attempts at killing me with a flock that *came around for another pass*), so you're not missing that much... well, aside from the odd pictures with the portable mullet (I have a pair that are becoming my new icon).
