Overall, I like BMI. However, when you do something *monumentally* stupid, like I managed to in my preparations for flying back this last weekend, their true colours appear... I'd managed to accidentally book the flight for the Saturday *not* Sunday (which does explain why the express check-in thingie says that check-in had finished for my flight....), and had to go and find out this from the Ticket Sales desk. The desk clerk went through a bunch of steps with me, which I will describe as "complete panic" down to "reasonable fee".
Now, they could have just started with that 3rd item, but then I'd probably be pretty miffed (a £30 change fee on a flight that initially cost only £34, and £27 of that was taxes). As it was, having passed through the terror of steps 1 and 2, I was less annoyed than I could have been.
Of course, it all gets delayed to buggery at the Amsterdam end (taxiing across the entire damn airport, 25-30 minute delay on bags, etc), and I eventually get back at half-past-midnight local time. At least my hangover from the previous night had disappeared by the time I was dealing was all of the above.
- Tell me they have no more flights today. Ponder if anyone else has one. I'm mentally calculating time back to parents, and who I'll need to call. Embarassment factor looks high.
- Remember there's another one in an hour and a bit. Tell me it's £92 to book that now. I say yes in desparation.
- Take pity/enact initial plan and say they'll let me on for just the £30 change fee, by which time i'm very happy with that
