I've been pretty damn busy again this week. Fun and games with T-MAC (debugging distributed software with radio links is a bitch). We've been trying out pair-programming for this with me and Gertjan - it's exhausting, but the debug is progressing well and more accurately than if I was just doing it on my own. *think* we found the last bug in that today, which given as they need to be programmed by end of play tommorrow to get stuck into plastic tubes before they go to the potato field on June 1st, this is a good thing. Apparently there's going to be about 3 different TV stations (2 local, 1 national), a national radio station and a bunch of print media there as well. I'm not going tho, mainly 'cause a) I'm not directly funded by this project and b) having people that speak good Dutch is probably a good idea for dealing with journalists.
On wednesday, I quit Promood's board, because I'm busy as hell and can't give them any time for at least another 2 months, and so I've handed over the website (which they've already re-done the colour scheme to). Trying to juggle PhD and MSc stuff at the same time is getting to me a bit, but I think its still workable, and the MSc stuff should mostly be done in a month, after which I'm taking a big block of accumulated holiday off and going back to Blighty for a while. Got a thesis defence in about another 12 days or so, before which I need to finish writing it, but that's mostly a matter of re-formatting existing text.
Oh, and the bad side of the Mac Mini: it has a particularly evil variant of an RPC-2 DVD drive - one that won't even give you the encrypted version of discs outside your set region. Bastards. If anyone has a RPC-1 firmware for a Panasonic/Matsushita CW-8124 I'd love a copy. However, given the only non-region 2 disc currently on my desk is Better Off Dead, which is ridiculously eighties, this might be not such a bad state of things.
