Due to Semagic being a piece of shit several times in recent days, I haven't written at least two entries. The net result of it dying on me after I've been writing for 10 minutes or so is that I won't rewrite it due to sheer annoyance, and so some of what I was going to write gets stored, and the rest gets junked. However, it never crashes before I do either a post or preview, so this time I'm copying+pasting elsewhere *first*.
Things I was going to mention (plus additions): My4th 3rd housemate has returned from Pakistan. His brother is now better (bad motorcycle accident), so he's back. Was planning on doing some shopping for a new duvet (need winter one + actually getting one the size of my futon rather than half it's size might help. Such is the transiting from single bed to semi-double.) and some computer stuff, and instead just ordered the computer stuff. Going from my Athlon 1.4 with it's aircraft-taking-off fan to a Athlon 64 3200+ with a less noisy fan. Parts on order now, shop says ~Thursday. Graphics card update put off until Nvidia gets some stock of the 6600 GT over this side of the pond in an AGP form. Duvet buying put off until I get my arse in gear.
Other things on mental todo list: apply superglue to toilet seat and attempt to fix wobblyness, ask cute Canadian girl from AEGEE evening on a date. I suspect the impetus for the latter is my lack of social life around here in the past few months due to busyness + summer months=less other people i.e. no new cute women in *months*. However, it's still a fun idea. Or at least I want to get to know her a whole bunch better. Figure out if she has an SO, etc. Important details like that should be found methinks....
OpiumLeaf has got over it's "argh, panic, let's download everything to start with and then lock the user interface when we're downloading anything else" hump. Pretty-much asynchronous (ok, not images) loading is now in place i.e. you get to browse news items while it's getting the others. It also doesn't do the whole epileptic-fit inducing "delete all the tree items everytime anything changes" so having >1 feed is also usable. It still needs a fair amount of work before it's properly released, but it's getting closer to dogfood status, so that's cool. For the bored, I've got a couple of pics of it working so far ( OpiumLeaf pics )

Horse head pillow (Via engadget)
Cool scrabble movie (via either
greymaiden or Memepool)
LJ Tech details presentation - interesting for those like me
Sune - a cool but twisted futuristic webcomic
Chocolypse Now (from Memepool)
