Palfrey's life

After a considerable gap, I finally decided to go along to one of the AEGEE meetups last night. De Ruif is still as packed as I remember, but now I barely know anyone. A partial solution to this was finding some of the c'ttee people, and volunteering to hand out poster adverts for their next excursion. Perfectly good excuse to say hi to people you don't know. Ended up on a table with the 3rd other English guy (or person for that matter. Haven't met *any* English women here) I've met since I've been here, a Canadian girl, and various assorted Danish people. Two of which I would have put good money on being sisters, but aren't. Much alcohol and talking ensued. As a net result of all of this (plus that my officemate and my supervisor aren't in today), my work rate has gone down somewhat this morning, partly 'cause I'm feeling a bit fragile. That and trying to talk in a jammed-to-the-gills bar means that my previous sore throat is now more messed up. Not good. However, it was worth it. New and interesting people, whom I will have to go out with and consume more fermented random things with at a future date. I may actually have something resembling a social life again at some point....
