Despite my fandom re: "better" sci-fi series (B5, Farscape, etc), the Trek series are still fun. They've got holes a mile wide, and *major* inconsistencies in their tech timelines (the number of advanced bits of tech only used for one episode, a grand total of 3 AI's (Data, Lore, Moriaty) in a universe with atomic level manipulation, etc - blaming Roddenbery's bloody vision for those), but they're fun, and somewhat comforting. Sort of the sci-fi equivalent of a old warm fuzzy blanket that you don't want to throw away.
I've had a bit of a Trek day, between finishing watching TNG and watching some of the DVD extras - Brent Spiner claiming the best thing about being on TNG was "not having to think about whether I was going to be able to pay the rent this month", Marina Sirtis looking like she's died repeatedly, and finding out about the "Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back" cd by Brent as well. Looking for info on that found me this page. Ok, bits are in italian, but it's still a very funny listing of the assorted CDs by various Trek cast members. Something else from the extras was this great screencap. Should be titled "shots you never thought you'd see"

Oh, noticed a while back a cockup in TNG 7x18 "Eye of the Beholder"

Pick different bloody dates.... even I can tell those Stardates are wrong!
I'd also realised that I was a bit behind on my Enterprise watching, and I'd been hearing good things about the episodes. Checked up, and realised I was *6* episodes behind... luckily my downloading has kept pace, and so I'm getting close to caught up now.
In the theme of the recently resurrected "Which America Hating Minority Are You?" meme, I bring a thing from Memepool, namely Bushgame. Basically, it's a pro-John Kerry advert in the guise of a little video game. It's silly, and pretty easy to complete, and being aware of it's obvious bias makes me automatically wary of believing all of it, but it's still kinda fun.
