Ever had one of those days when you should be focusing on whatever piece of work, but for some reason you have either a song or something else running through your head? I've just had both. Externally I'm focusing on making Gnuplot do my bidding (/me curses python front-ends that haven't been designed in a pythonic way, and so break python's design aim of "principle of least surprise") and other matters related to dealing with my paper in these last 48 hours.

Internally however, I have a) R.E.M.'s Swan Swan H running thorugh my head ("Swan, swan, hummingbird"... sigh) and b) scenes from Dogma. I'm serious on that last one. I'm trying to concentrate, and I've got Loki in my head going "You are a kind and virtuous person, so you alone are spared. But you didn't say bless you when you sneezed!" and Bartleby going "Loki!" (words may be slightly wrong, but you get the idea). I've got Bartelby's expression as he realises that Bethany is the last scion (sp?). It's been a fun day....

There are solutions to this:
1) To solve the R.E.M., I will add something other than R.E.M. to my work playlist (admittedly there's a whole bunch of other artists already, but I have so much R.E.M. that it makes up about half the playlist). It's good, but after a certain point I'm gonna go a bit postal.
2) To solve the Dogma scenes, I will watch the film while eating dinner. For those of you who may doubt the sanity of the plan (or me), I think this will work. Sort of "hair of the dog", but for my crazy mind.

Oh, the first Dutch lesson was good. Nice to be able to respond to "hoe heet jij?" (literally, "how are called you?". The Dutch probably didn't understand Yoda jokes) and various phrases of that ilk.
