Palfrey's life

Life, as usual, sucks somewhat. Don't worry, I'm not going goth, this is more of a temporary state. But that's what I've been telling myself for a while. And it's starting to get to me. I'm doing nothing this weekend, I did basically nothing last weekend. I spend too much time these days staring at /., The Register, my LJ friends page, Ok Cupid and various webcomics, and not enough time actually going out and doing things. Heck, I have to go through two pages worth of people on Ok Cupid right now just to see anyone that isn't apparently an 80% or above match for me. There's someone there who's an 88% match for me. I think some of you would be surprised that there's someone that much like me. But most of these are 300-3000 miles away, so I can't exactly go out and have a drink with them, which sucks. I'd like to meet these people, if only just to talk. I go and see some places occasionally with AEGEE, but the gaps inbetween are a killer. I'd much rather a more regular social life, with such simple things as people I go and be social with on my fridays/weekends, rather than the bursts of social followed by vast tracts of nothing at all. *sigh*.

Somewhat random question in the middle of this (betting *someone* knows the answer): Would a full set of Tengwar characters fit into a reasonably standard sized keyboard?

While I've been doing all this moping, I've also found/figured out/discovered a few things

• Another great Angel quote - "Look out! The monkey's thinking again" - Skip, on Angel (4x17)


• Watching TNG "behind the scenes" stuff, found out the storywriter that wrote "Best of Both Worlds" originally was going to leave the crew after that ep, and so he never originally had an ending for it. He had left it as a "impossible to get out of" situation, and expected it to be SEP. But, then he got persuaded by Gene Roddenberry to stay on and had to solve it...

• I'm stopping spending any real effort on E2 any more.(Ok, I'll still spend some browsing time while there's nodes like "What else can make a light that bright?") Final reason for this was my node on the "Young Lady's Illustrated Primer" getting nuked. I'm used to the nuke policy being a bit of an evil SOB, but that had 27 votes FFS. No longer worth my hassle.
