Title imagination at its usual levels. Traveled down to GNARP yesterday, got back this afternoon. My talk ("Statistical Approaches to Localization in Ad-hoc Wireless Sensor Networks") went pretty well. Given it's pretty similar to two earlier talks I've given, and it's a lot of what I've been doing these last few months, I'm not too surprised. Met an interesting american girl called Melanie, doing security work for ubiquitous computing. Turns out she did her MSc in Delft, before going to the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam to do PhD work, so she already knew everyone. Nice girl. Loud (in that american way), but not irritating with it as quite a few of them are. Had a good question about my presentation, luckily I've heard most of them already.
Going to Belgium tommorrow morn, there's a beer festival going on, and we're thinking of doing a bit of the cultural/tourist stuff as well, combined with some partying in Gent (really can't pronounce that properly. The 'g' sounds like 'geh', but not. Can't do it right), so looking forwards to all of that. Was thinking about shaving off the beard tonight (given the general female opinion against it - well possibly excepting
chalkcircle) and my soon to be partying (read: probably in a club somewhere in the depth of Gent), but Angel watching (4x4-6 - frell it's being very dark) and my generic inertia have kinda killed that. Think that'll wait until I finally kick myself out of my laziness some time, as it will take some effort to do and I *hate* shaving, which is one of the reasons for the beard.
