Smeg. Have managed to do a series of things, which has resulted in me working out something not good. Firstly, while chatting to [livejournal.com profile] rikrose, mentioning my plans to spend two weeks at home over Easter, I realise that I've once again forgotten to leave the mobile on so the parentals can ring me on Sunday (as they usually do). I promptly call them, we chat, I realise that the Dutch entrance test is on the same day as they leave for Spain (30th March) and decide to have a quick gander at other schedule-grabbing things - like the module I'm meant to be doing this next session. Whoop-de-do, it also starts on the 30th, and then runs every Tuesday and Thursday until mid-May, when I had thought it was starting a couple of weeks later. So net results of all of this, I wasn't planning on going away before the Dutch test (one, because I'll need to study for it, and two, because I've got too much to do before then), and now I can't get some proper holiday time until late May. (Maybe June, due to possible conferences and things) Nuts. I'm still going home for a long weekend over Easter (afternoon of April 8th - 12th likely, booking time tommorrow first thing), but that's basically gonna be veg at parents time. No real time to go and see people. For those of you who have offered to come and see me in London, I'd love to see you guys, but right now I think a quiet (i.e. away from *everything*) weekend at the parentals is what I will need. I intend (i.e. I bloody will, come hell or high water) to spend a whole bunch of my extensive holiday time in the summer, maybe some of that in Cornwall with parents, but would much welcome it if anyone else wants to think of big/small group hols. I *need* a holiday this year. Didn't really have one at all last year, and that doesn't help my half-burnt-out state at various points of now. Suggestions anyone?

Something I thought of while in the shower - a post-modernist light-bulb joke
Q: How many post-modernists does it take to change a light-bulb?
A: 1, who promptly realises that the whole point of his existence is simply to solve the problem of how to change this light-bulb, and so he goes ahead and does it.

I suppose there are are other post-modernist concept than just 4th wall breaking that I could have referred to, but couldn't think of any offhand.

EDIT: forgot the other thing I did today was find a new icon, via [livejournal.com profile] saava, and so I have used it now...

I've just had one of those days. One where you feel at the end that you didn't really do anything, and then you look back and realise you did a fair amount. Finished writing my presentation for GNARP this Friday, found and submitted two bugs I found today to the Debian BTS, fixed a long-standing problem in the gned parser in Omnet (really must get around to making a diff of all my fixes and submitting it) that lets me now do more compile time checking for bugs in my simulation. Re-wrote one section of the node generator code for the simulator (sorting the anchors to allow for later improved modelling, once I get the real-world data off of Niels and Gertjan). Smegged around with PyGTK a bit and did some improvements to my calendar (wrote myself a little calendar app late last week to try and keep me organised).

Latest MLP (a number are via [livejournal.com profile] xiombarg's recent post, but I figure there's enough non-crossover between the lists to keep most of you entertained still)
