palfrey: (bearded)
I'm posting more these days. Guess I'm just getting bored, or that LJ is currently the grand total social life I've had since returning to the low countries 10 days ago. I got a bit more done today. WARNING: much techie whining

  • Working on the garbage collector (see previous post). One of the structures resulted in me having to use a quintuple-starred pointer. Yeah, that's right. 5. A-Pointer-To-A-Pointer-To-A-Pointer-To-A-Pointer-To-A-Pointer. Try saying that. And then you get a function pointer.... C starts to get a bit mad when you're writing things like (*****sf)(**temp) - where temp and sf are in fact the same variable, just casted differently - and it compiles. Had some *really* weird memory bugs with that one earlier.

  • Finally installed the new 60gb that I got back off of IBM warranty (well, Hitachi because of various sellings of bits of IBM), then promptly copied all of the data (aside from Family Guy 3x01-4 :( ) off of the *other* dying 60gb, which has now got an RMA and is boxed ready to be sent off to them as well.. I will eventually get around to putting the two of them into a RAID-1 setup

  • Found some funny things, that I was gonna post yesterday, but BITS was down so no bookmarks db...
  • Bike is still being a bastard, back tire is very buggered now, so must find bike shop at w/e. As well as an opticians, as in the course of turning over my bike (was trying to fix it) I smacked my glasses, resulting in the loss of one of the little nose bits and a bent arm. Have had glasses for quite a while, so wouldn't mind getting a new pair. (Wanted to make a word joke there, regarding the word "bril", i.e. the slang for "brilliant", but also the dutch word for "glasses", but couldn't quite figure it out)

K, sleep. Gotta get up and do TNO stuff tommorrow, and I'm testing out a new bus/tram route in.....

ASSIMILATION (02 of 14): Borg Queen with Seven of Nine
Your SF superpower is: Assimilation

Resistance really is futile with you. You have
touched many, which accounts for (most of) the
voices in your head.

Beings who share your superpower: the Borg Queen
(Star Trek), Rogue (X-Men), Aiken Drum (Saga of
Pliocene Exile), Hydra (Galactic Milieu
Trilogy)

Good. You know your music. You should be able to
work at Championship Vinyl with Rob, Dick and
Barry
