Palfrey's life

Up to a few things, just not much. State dump of most things: More Invader Zim, DS9, etc watching. Christmas Lunch w/ co-workers. Finding out my Eva box set is in the post, but that Anthony's isn't (but might be later, as they've restocked). Saying bye to a few ppl, Daniel for one (Australian guy, known via AEGEE. Good bloke) who's leaving the country on the 28th. Looks like my previous plans of being in bris from 28th are starting to dissolve (lack of crash space + ppl being all over the place). Should be crashing at Kate's from 30th, so at least get a few days in bris w/ everyone. Should be a lot of fun. Haven't seen RotK yet, avoiding spoilers, would see here but it's a) only on at the hideously smokey Apollo cinema and b) want to avoid the subtitles for once. Will see when I'm back in UK, so probably some point on Sunday 21st. Had intro lesson for Dutch courses, got the book. Doing the "Delft method" - means they basically just start speaking lots of Dutch at you and you need to keep up. Looks pretty interesting. Test on 1st 3 exercises of book to test for suitability for class on 6th Jan :-( Doing (finally) c/w for various modules, including the distributed systems that had me tied up for ages with silly RPC bugs. Got Xmas stuff for family, except CD for Mum (import-only Robert Palmer), which I'm bugging Dad to get for me after I trawled the 5 CD shops in Delft with no luck.

While talking to Kate on IM recently, thought of a few things I've missed from england. These include: road signs in english, not having to apologize for not knowing any dutch, being able to understand conversations of other ppl on buses/trains, going back to pounds sterling (and ppl who understand feet and stone). Cider. Less fucking smoke in bars/pubs. There's a few things (in addition to seeing family/friends).
