palfrey at 02:32am on 25/11/2003Argh.... why the frells did Surfnet (ISP ppl for TU Delft, and by extension, my room) decide that tonight was a nice time to schedule a partial outage while they fuck around with their BGP tables, thus rendering me unable to get to my mail, and leaving me a bit stressed because there was an important email I wanted to send (more below).
However, as previously planned earlier in the day, went off and played pool with Daniel and Lucius. As 3 doesn't work very well with most pool games, we played a bit of an odd variant involving each person "owning" some of the balls, and taking turns attempting to pot everyone else's. Last person with balls on the table wins. We added an interesting handicapp system after Daniel kept winning, giving me and Lucius a few more balls, which eventually got formalized as "person who wins 'gives' a ball to person who was first off the table", which over many games (as happens when you're paying by time, not by the game) eventually makes things pretty fair. Later on, other 2 of the swiss guys (some of same ppl went to Matrix: Revolutions with, still can't remember names) came along and we played a bit of doubles with one person sitting out. I'm starting to actually get quite good at pool, but dutch tables (large pockets, large cue tips) may well be helping.
Came how ~midnight, procrastinated for a bit, finally able to connect to BITS, finally wrote email to Eva (generic initial "want to do something?" email, more-or-less) after much faffing around. Hopefully she's still interested. I've got some photos from the party from Lucius, one of which has her in, but it's a very long shot up the crowded stairway with Eva as a small cluster of pixels up the top of the stairs. It's not exactly the best photo, but good enough to confirm the accuracy of my memories. She's still cute. Re-done (resize, crop, drop from 18mb to 3mb) versions of the photos will be up on my site whenever my 'net connection unfucks enough to do SFTP again.
K, sleep (perchance to dream, etc. except I can't remember the last time i remembered a dream). TNO stuff to do tommorrow, and I'm really not gonna get enough sleep tonight.
